Where It All Started: Clearview, OK 1923
It was in 1921 that Kaleb Sims and Dollie Golden of Clearview married. They remained in Clearview for one year and the following year they moved to California. During that year, Opal, their only child was born. Before they left for their new home, Dollie’s mother, Dolly Hollands Golden had Kaleb promise to bring her daughter and her new granddaughter Opal back to Clearview on Dollie’s birthday which was September 1st. Of course, Kaleb agreed to return each year on September 1st. Keeping his promise was the beginning of the Golden Family reunion beginning on September 1, 1923.
